Amantys recognised in Global Cleantech 100 for third consecutive year

Continued investment in power and renewable applications keeps Amantys at the leading-edge of cleantech innovation

- 10 Oct 2013

Cambridge, UK, October 9th, 2013 – Amantys, the pioneer of digital control in high-power switching, has been named in the prestigious 2013 Global Cleantech 100 for the third consecutive year.

The Global Cleantech 100 list highlights the promise of private clean technology companies from all around the world, focusing on companies likely to make the most significant market impact in cleantech over the next 5-10 years.

Amantys’ technology delivers significant benefits to the power industry, bringing intelligence into the heart of power switching systems. Providing high fidelity information about the conditions each switching device is operating under allows operation and maintenance tasks to be scheduled in a more effective way, improving efficiency while reducing costs. As the network becomes much more complex, there’s a clear demand for real-time observability at every level from the power switch to the national grid. Whether that’s in a warehouse hundreds of miles away from the nearest engineer or at a more local level, using digital techniques to monitor power switching can make smart grids much more manageable.

In the last year Amantys has signed a series of key partnerships, including Dynex, Fuji Electric and Hitachi to promote its unique technology and help enhance system availability in applications such as wind turbine inverters, grid tie PV inverters and motor drives. It has also signed up a number of key customers and is working on using Amantys Power Insight to improve the availability and reduce the operating costs of renewable energy sources and the smart grid.

The list is derived from Cleantech Group’s own data and research, combined with the weighted qualitative judgments of hundreds of nominations, and the viewpoints of a global 90-person Expert Panel. To qualify for the list, companies must be independent, for-profit, cleantech companies that are not listed on any major stock exchange.

“To be listed for the third consecutive year is a fantastic testament to our continued innovation in the cleantech space,” said Erwin Wolf, CEO, Amantys. “Almost 6000 companies were nominated, so for Amantys to once again make the top 100 is a great achievement and shows the value our Power Insight technology can bring. In the last year we’ve signed a series of key partnership agreements and continue to go from strength to strength.”

5,864 companies were nominated this year from 60 countries. These companies were weighted and scored to create a short list of 300 companies. Vital information on these short-listed companies—including key data from Cleantech Group’s i3 platform—was presented to the expert panel for final input. The end result was 100 companies from 18 countries.
